Situated between the capital Arrecife and the airport, Playa del Cable is a great holiday destination for those who want to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the nearby city centre yet be far away enough to enjoy a relaxing holiday.
The sandy beach offers a superb place to relax although the waters here do tend to have a fairly strong current which may not be suitable for swimming but is great for water sports such as wind surfing and water skiing. Paragliding is also a popular activity here.
The city centre is approx 3 km away where an array of shops, bars, restaurants can be found.
The airport is located approx 4.5 km from the resort.
Insider's View
Playa del Cable is an exclusive residential location situated between Arrecife the capital of Lanzarote and Playa Honda. Property here is prestigious the area attracts the wealthy residents who want space in a beachfront location and within easy reach of the capital.
Within Playa del Cable is the Marina Colón a small traditional sailing club, from the seafront there is a promenade connecting Arrecife for miles along the coast to Puerto del Carmen.
The beach at Playa del Cable is quiet and secluded, there aren't any rows of sunbeds and umbrellas here, just a sandy beach and gentle ocean. There are plenty of beaches to enjoy along the coast, Playa del Reducto in the capital is very popular and in the other direction there are a number of coves through La Concha and Playa Honda.
The seafront is a little bit special! The promenade attracts everyone, it doesn't matter what shape, size or level of fitness the surface is great for roller skating, cycling, jogging and walking. Apart from exercising this wide footpath has a wonderful array of bars and restaurants available at regular intervals just begging you to sit down, chill out and watch the world go by.
I like the ambience of Emmax, this bar restaurant is located on the promenade in Playa Honda within an easy stroll from Playa del Cable, offering a fusion of Italian and Thai cuisine.
If you like shopping why not try the Deiland Comercial Centre in Playa Honda, this indoor centre makes a change from Arrecife. Here you will find a good selection of shops, a supermarket as well as a cinema and bowling alley.
Being a dormitory town, Playa Honda really comes to life on a Friday night at the end of the working week. We enjoy parking up and walking down the smaller streets where you will find plenty of small bars that are buzzing with conversation, good music and ice cold beer. In the same side streets during the day you'll find a number of independent food shops selling groceries and fresh produce.
Playa del Cable offers exclusivity and tranquillity with the convenience of the capital close by.
